SUMMARY:

All children took history seminars about the human race and the thousands of years when they were all trapped on a single planet together in a proximity that led to conflict over resources, beliefs, power. Hundreds of years ago the closeness had brought them to war time and again, until the imminent collapse of their planet’s ecosystem spurred the many governments of the world to pool resources for interstellar exploration and colonization.

Their efforts had saved Earth, expanded the reach of the human race to the six explored solar systems they knew today, and in the process, seen the colonization of planets and creation of space stations throughout the galaxy.

Hello! I wrote a short love story entitled Nanuk for the Overwatch Femslash Bang, which just finished up - I like to think of it as a fun cabin-in-the-woods bottle-episode kinda story but mind the tags and the rating :D

"Nanuk" is Inuktitut for "polar bear" and I used it as the title as a tribute to the region the story takes place in and respect for the creature in question - I want to learn more and do more about this.

It was beta'd by the wonderful Mariknickerbocker and there is some truly beautiful art embedded within from Andii, which you can also find here

Summary:

Polar Bears need the solid ice under them to be able to hunt and feed themselves. Without it they must wander, looking for a new home.

Zarya is hanging on to resentment against the omnics: the conflict gave her purpose, but the world is changing and she has no control over it. She is disturbed by her recent experiences and does not know it but is adrift. She needs to get the solid ice under her again, but the only way will be through acceptance, not trying to recreate the past that gave her purpose. When a mysterious signal prompts Winston to send her and a small team on a mission to the long defunct Ecopoint Arctic, without a clear picture of what they will encounter, the team could be there for weeks. Everyone comes with their own baggage, and that’s on top of the whisky the cowboy tried to sneak onboard. So when cracks start to form amongst the group she will have to keep them together.
